A decision based on self (WIIFM - what’s in it for me) often backfires as people react and later we get offended or resentful. When in fact we started the ball rolling.
When faced with competing priorities, consider running your decision through the 4 absolutes: Am I being honest, unselfish, loving, and pure - allowing that I am not God and other people have free agency.
It is our path to peace.
